We try to get orders out within one business day of receiving them and usually succeed. For the free shipping option, which is USPS Media Mail, the Post Office says 3-9 business days. You can typically expect it to take about a week.

For additional cost, we can ship by Priority Mail, which the Post Office says takes 1-3 business days.

We ship from Fairfield, CA, so destinations west of the Rockies will typically have a shorter transit time than points further east. Please note that we have no control over the Post Office and cannot guarantee transit times.

Your USPS tracking number will generally be e-mailed to you as part of the processing of your order. You can check the progress of your package as follows:

When a card is declined for whatever reason, the charge still shows up briefly on the credit card records. My understanding is that this allows for a potential override of the decline (something we never do), rather than having the charge disappear entirely. These declined charges fall off the records after a short while, generally no more than a couple of business days. Rest assured, if your card was declined, you have not been charged.

By far, the most common reason for a card to be declined that I see is a billing address mismatch. Our system checks the billing address of the card (among other things), so if you have moved recently, or have both a street address and a PO Box, it may not match and be declined for that reason. You can have books shipped to an address other than the billing address on your card, but the billing address must match what your credit card company has on file.

Your particular credit card may have other security measures in place which could cause it to be declined, such as buying online from a vendor that you have not previously purchased from. There are all sorts of reasons why a card could be declined. My system only allows me to see billing address mismatch or “other – contact card issuer.”
